John specialises in structured finance, investment funds and corporate and commercial transactions, with an emphasis on catastrophe bond transactions and other insurance-linked securities, CLO/CDO transactions, securitisations, derivatives, structured debt and repackagings.
John joined Maples and Calder in 2001. He previously practised with Clifford Chance in London, where he completed a secondment to the fixed income desk at Lehman Brothers. Before that, he practised with Lang Michener (now McMillan) in Canada. John has been recommended for insurance and reinsurance by Who's Who Legal and noted in Chambers Global and Legal 500 for catastrophe bond transactions.
