Harjit is a partner in the investment funds practice group at Maples and Calder in London and specialises in the establishment and maintenance of all kinds of alternative investment funds in the Cayman Islands.  She advises numerous leading European fund managers and their onshore counsel on the formation, ongoing legal and regulatory compliance, restructuring and termination of different types of Cayman Islands investment vehicles, including hedge, hybrid and private equity funds.  She also regularly advises clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions, including shareholder arrangements and regulatory matters such as FATCA and CRS compliance.

Professional Background

Harjit joined Maples and Calder in 2007 and was elected as a partner in 2015.  She previously worked for Mallesons Stephen Jaques (as it was then known) in Sydney, Australia and before that, as a research assistant to a judge in the equity division of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. 

Harjit is ranked by Chambers Global and Chambers UK where she is described as a "rising star" and "clear, commercial and experienced" and is named in Who's Who Legal.   Harjit is also recommended in Legal 500 as being "absolutely amazing".
