Maples and Calder Lawyer Recognised Among Leading Women in Hedge Funds
The Hedge Fund Journal, in association with Ernst & Young, released the 2015 list of 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds on Thursday, 18 June, at an industry reception in New York City. Among the impressive list of influential women was Maples and Calder partner, Jo Cunningham, the first lawyer at the firm to receive this prestigious recognition, based upon nominations from her peers in the industry.
The biennial report was produced from data gathered in a survey from interviews with industry experts based in Asia, the US and Europe. The process of collecting nominations sees The Hedge Fund Journal reaching out to allocators, advisers, brokers and service providers, like administrators and law firms. Once nominations are received, the publication has the difficult task of selecting the final 50 women through assessing assets, performance, seniority, length of experience in addition to the references from nominators.
Jo joined Maples and Calder in 2007 and specialises in the establishment and operation of offshore investment funds. She has a broad range of hedge fund, private equity fund and investment platform clients. Jo's litigation background combined with her investment fund experience gives her a unique perspective on issues associated with distressed investment funds and she has advised extensively on the reorganisation of such funds.
