The need to ensure a sufficient degree of regulation on the management of European alternative investment funds gave rise to the introduction of the EU Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM). This Directive provoked considerable uncertainty about the future of the industry in relation to structures and domiciles. Elaine Keane assesses hedge fund managers’ global options following the AIFM Directive’s implementation.
