Nick is a partner in the London office of Maples and Calder, with a broad practice area including Corporate and Investment Funds.

Nick's expertise covers private equity funds, with particular experience in infrastructure and real estate.  He also advises hedge funds and particularly funds of hedge funds with a broad range of strategies.  He has extensive involvement in the structuring, formation and operation of a wide range of investment fund structures, and acts for financial institutions, investment managers, investors and their onshore counsel.  He has advised clients on a wide variety of fund-related transactions including seed capital investments, fund restructurings (including related Volcker issues), secondaries deals and manager ownership, incentivisation and succession structures.

Nick also advises financial institutions, private equity sponsors and public and private businesses on a full range of Corporate transactions.  His extensive experience includes IPOs, public and private M&A, joint ventures, buyouts, restructurings (including demergers and spin-outs), debt financings and security arrangements as well as management incentive structures.  In addition, Nick regularly provides regulatory advice for financial services business and funds.


Nick joined Maples and Calder in 2000 and was elected as a partner in 2005.  He previously worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London.  Nick has been recommended as a leading funds and corporate lawyer in Legal 500 and Who's Who Legal.
