Expertise

Philip specialises in the structuring, formation and ongoing operation of Cayman Islands investment funds.  He represents numerous hedge fund managers and private equity firms on the establishment of fund structures, seed capital arrangements, restructurings, acquisitions and disposals, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, downstream transactions and fund investment realisations.  He also advises on compliance matters for the funds and their operators and managers.

Professional Background

Philip joined Maples and Calder in 2012 and was elected as a partner in 2015.  He was previously a senior counsel at another international law firm in the Cayman Islands.  Prior to that, he worked for Clifford Chance and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in London advising private equity firms, investment banks and corporate clients.
