Peter is a partner in the Investment Funds Group in Maples' Dublin office. He regularly advises investors, promoters, fund managers and investment banks on the establishment, structuring, financing, public and private distribution and ongoing operation of traditional and alternative investment funds including UCITS, QIFs, hedge funds, funds of funds, master-feeders, private equity funds, managed account platforms and bespoke structures. Peter also has significant expertise advising in the areas of derivatives, prime brokerage, investment services and securities law. His clients include a wide range of financial institutions carrying out business in Ireland or transacting with Irish domiciled counterparties from other jurisdictions.

Peter joined Maples in 2010. He was previously a partner with a leading Irish law firm where he also managed their North American legal representative office. Peter has also worked for a global investment bank and a law firm in Luxembourg. He is widely recognised as a leading lawyer in the financial services arena in Ireland and is recommended by PLC Which Lawyer as a leading investment funds lawyer.

Peter is a graduate of University College Dublin and the Université of Nancy.
Professional / Civic Activities
Peter has written several articles for the IBA and industry journals, has lectured on Financial Services Law at private conferences and for the Law Society of Ireland and has advised the Commercial Law Centre of University College Dublin on developments in Financial Services Law. He is a member of the IFIA’s Alternative Investment Committee, the IFIA’s Steering Committee on AIFMD and chairs the sub-groups on Irish investment limited partnership and loan fund reform.
